Cyber Warfare Games

As "Bobby Black Hat" prepares for InterSec 2009 conference, he finds a small business located at or near the conference site. Doing some reconnaissance, by doing a cold call to the company to inquire about what they do,  Bobby finds the company "ABCompany" deals with personal information such as employee records, health care and financial.

Bobby visits the conference site, and finds ABCompany has a wireless access point called "ABC". Bobby has also identified there is a server on the network, along with some workstations.  He has also identified WITCPublic, a public wireless at the college called ITLAB. He will not be using these unless he needs internet access.  There is also a private WITC access point for the college and he will not be using or attacking it as he is very concerned about being identified by IDS or IPS systems. Bobby is happy to find the ABCompany's network administrators are kind. The names of all the equipment start with ABC!

When attending the conference Bobby brings with him a wireless laptop and some tools (there will be some stations setup at the conference which Bobby also knows he can use!) On the equipment Bobby has access to Wireshark, Netstumbler, Angry IP scanner and other tools. Bobby is thinking he may add some other tools and he may recruit some others as part of the "hacking group"  as he knows the information (DATA) is valuable!  He will identify his group based on information placed on name badges. Bobby’s group will hopefully have a student from WITC who might have some more insight to ABCompany. Bobby will inform group members to leave a mark when a system is compromised. A file called "GrpXX.dat" will have the members first name in it. XX matches the identifier on the name badge. Bobby has asked all team members to document what they have learned and done as they will meet and report during the conference.

“Bobby Black Hat” the hacker knows his presence at the conference will be public information so he is determined that his attacks will not disrupt the operation of ABCompany. His goal is to locate valuable data, not to crash the network.  Bobby also knows he has limited time to complete his tasks. More to come as “Bobby Black Hat” plans his data acquisition!
